Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada filed two lawsuits against a Rhode Island estate attorney alleging that he and his associates arranged stranger-originated life insurance, The Providence Journal reported.
The lawsuits filed in federal court said Benjamin Paster of the Paster & Harpootian law firm in Cranston, R.I., and Vincent Passananti, owner of Meridian Benefits Group, encouraged a 73-year-old California woman to apply for a $10 million policy in March 2007 that was STOLI, the article said.
Paster denied the allegations in court papers and the newspaper was unable to reach Passananti.
